The New Year!

January 7, 2014

Happy New Year everyone!
We have kicked off the new year with some great improvements at Kilchis Point Reserve. Thanks to the South Fork Forest Camp inmate work-crew, volunteers, and staff there is 300 feet of completed trail! The trails are built by installing Port Orford cedar bumpers, landscape fabric, and compacted gravel. The work-crew will be dedicating one week each month to the project until it is complete.

There are also four new trial signs that have been installed along the trail.

Thanks to the Tillamook Rotary, there is a 12 foot bridge along the Native American Way trail! This bridge is dedicated in the memory of Jack McClave and was dedicated on December 31st.

Work Party

May 14, 2013

Thank you to everyone who participated in the work party at Kilchis Point Reserve on May 11th! There are a lot of blackberries, scotch broom and weeds that are no-more because of everyone’s hard work.

Summer is nearly here and we are gearing up to complete the final paver trail, install the second wetland boardwalk, and begin graveling phase 4 of the trail.

Greetings! The Tillamook County Pioneer Museum is very pleased to announce that the Trailhead Loop is officially complete! The trail is 1/3 of a mile, paved, and ADA accessible. A boardwalk has been installed over the first wetland and there is a beautiful convening circle just behind the treeline. The remaining six interpretive trail signs will be installed next week.

Outdoor Discovery Day

August 9, 2012

Thank you to everyone that volunteered and attended the first annual Outdoor Discovery Day at Kilchis Point on July 28th! We had over 140 people attend and heard nothing but great things about the progress out at Kilchis Point. We hope to see you all next year!

Benches!

April 24, 2012

It is a bit of a hike along the trails and we thought it would be nice to have a few benches available along the way to rest and observe nature.  Thank you to Caleb for making these wonderful benches out of down Alder trees.  Check ’em out!
