Tech Trek

July 15, 2014

It has been a busy summer so far!
A few weeks ago the Museum hosted 36 8th grade girls at Kilchis Point Reserve as part of the American Association of University Women, annual Tech Trek. Tech Trek is a week-long camp for girls that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math. Young women from all over Oregon apply to participate and go through a rigorous interview process.
The girls spent four hours at KPR! They learned how to identify birds and went bird watching along Tillamook Bay, learned about local plants and fractals in nature, and tested their knowledge and speed with a Task Trek activities along the trail. The Task Trek was a timed event that required the girls to complete math and engineering tasks to earn points.
